Orinoco Delta 3 Days
The Orinoco Delta is one of the largest estuary systems in the world. We will show you a small selection, the mangrove forests, stilt houses and Indian settlements, the flora and fauna in its original form and also the unforgettable sunsets on a tributary of the Orinoco (Manamo).
We offer an all-inclusive package, which includes also the transport from Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolívar to the landing place. We start in Puerto Ordaz around 7:00 h and reach the harbour in about 2 hours. Now we go by curiara (indian boat) in 1 ½ hours to the Camp Orinoco Queen. There waits a welcome cocktail and everyone gets his Cabaña, very comfortable, clean accommodation with toilet, shower and mosquito net over the bed. Lunch is ready at 12:30 h and may be followed by a short rest. Against 15:00 h we go for wildlife observation, which lasts until the evening. At a low water level and a little patience, you can see freshwater dolphins jump. Dinner at 19:30 h.
The next day after the breakfast we make a jungle walk with rubber boots, where you can learn a lot about the jungle (palm hearts, fruits and lianas that contain drinking water and perhaps small animals). During piranha fishing everyone can try his luck. Lunch, little rest and then we go again by boat, this time to visit an Indian family. From the raw material of the moriche palm they weave and braid a lot of useful things like hammocks and baskets. At night you can see hundreds of parrots flying back to their nesting sites. Subsequently one looks forward to dinner.
On the last day after breakfast you can go on a canoe trip in a small boat. Around noon our boat drives you back to the harbour and from there by car to Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolívar. It’s possible let you near Maturin, where you can take a taxi.
Non-alcoholic drinks are included on the whole tour.
